Polychrome Jasper is a variety of microcrystalline Quartz and/or Chalcedony that has been discovered as recently as 2006 in Madagascar.  Polychrome Jasper is an opaque, silica rich stone coloured by impurities.  Primarily occurring in earthy colours of red, brown, green and grey, commonly with banding and swirling, each Polychrome Jasper piece is unique.  Polychrome Jasper can appear 'Agate like' depending upon the silica and impurity content.
